New Jersey CMENC Executive Board Meeting
September 12th, 2009

Meeting called to order at 12:09 PM
1. Old Business
1. Website
1. Updating
1. All old events will be erased, and new ones added
2. Meeting minutes will be available online
2. Emails
1. We are still trying to gain access to the old accounts
1. Once we get in, it might be easier to create accounts such as president@njcmenc.org, etc…to make it easier to pass along each year
2. Right now, our whole board receives emails sent to execboard@njcmenc.org
2. MIOSM
1. Dr. Connors is still in the process of getting advisor contacts
1. He will also use those contacts to ensure senators are attending our meetings
2. Dr. Connors is also working on getting an elementary school contact list from NJMEA
1. In the meantime, colleges should be asking their advisors for local contacts to use as well
3. Max has created a letter to be sent out to chapters/teachers
1. The State E-Board will all sign it
2. We will be sending this letter out to elementary schools as a state, but forward the letters along to the chapters so they know what is happening
3. We also want to include a flier and a tri-fold brochure about CMENC.
4. Next steps
1. Final decision: We are focusing on elementary schools
2. Send letter to chapters for approval: October 17th
3. Send letter to local schools: October 19th
1. David will be responsible for mailing the letters
2. New Business
1. Picnic
1. Final date: October 4th, 12:00 PM (with a rain date of October 17th)
2. Location: Johnson Park, Piscataway
3. Delegation
1. Reserve the park: Pat (by September 16th)
2. Money for food: Dr. Connors
3. Activities/Games: Jason
4. Communication with chapters: David will get a headcount from the senators by September 30th
2. NJCMENC Pins
1. 400-500 pins would cost about $2 per pin
2. Krysta: Find out how many members we have by the end of October
3. Orchestra Tickets
1. We want this idea solidified by October 4th
2. General pass to the Philadelphia Orchestra is $26
3. Jason has been calling the box office for more information
1. Double checking to make sure tickets are transferable.
4. Jason will be the contact person
1. He will make a list of concerts that everyone can go to
2. He will be the person to contact to reserve seats
5. Plan B: Group discount rates are offered as well
4. NJCMENC CD
1. We have to talk to the individual conductors at each school…have an update by October 17th
1. Krysta: Montclair, William Paterson, Caldwell
2. Pat: Rutgers, The College of New Jersey
2. 1 choral, 1 orchestral, and 1 band track from each school…must be a live recording
3. We can’t sell them! (But we can ask for donations and offer the CD as a free gift)
4. We need to decide how we choose tracks
5. Rowan has a CD duplicator we can use for free
3. Upcoming Events
1. October E-Board meeting
1. October 17th, 11:00 at Rutgers…Senate meeting at 12:00
2. November 1st-Deadline for January issue of TEMPO magazine
1. Krysta will submit an article to Dr. Connors for approval first
3. November 6th Atlantic City Conference
1. Each E-Board member must come up with an activity for that day
