Hi, my name is Jason Thomashefsky, and I am running for Vice President for the 2009/2010 year. My hometown is Bristol Township Pennsylvania and I am currently a sophomore at Rowan University for music education/jazz studies. I have been playing saxophone for 11 years now and I am still as passionate about it since the day I touched it. Music has always been a huge part of my life and I want to pass off my passion for music to others. I have had a strong involvement with Rowan's MENC chapter over the two past years. I have helped coordinate various activities such as fund raising the Rowan Jazz Fest, and help host the 2009 CMENC Convention. I am also a private lesson teacher of beginner saxophone students, as just recently given a master class to saxophone students at pitman high school.
I am running for this position because I feel that I am responsible,
reliable, and personable. I am the current senator representing Rowan
University, and I would like to take on more challenges. I feel that I am capable and willing to work hard and accomplish the tasks at hand, while creating/modifying new ideas and bringing them to the forefront of our NJ collegiate chapters attention. Following through with responsibilities and duties is extremely important to me as it is to the NJEMENC executive board in order to complete the pertinent tasks at hand.
Since becoming a member of Rowan MENC I realized the importance of being a member of a thriving organization in today's society. When I was elected senator of Rowan, I was better able to connect with other NJ chapters. If elected Vice-President, I would be focused on increasing
the connection that is being established now, and plan to make the NJ
CMENC chapter grow. As future educators we need to network with each other. (I have many ideas that could be implemented amongst the NJE-board and the NJ collegiate chapters. Some plans include opening up web pages such as blogs and wiki pages. Also keep the NJCMENC website more up to date so it can be used as resource for all the NJ chapters explaining different concerts, recitals, fundraisers that are being held at different schools. I would love to see students from other school attend as many fundraisers, concerts, and recitals at other schools as possible. I am very open to suggestions as well as questions in order to better serve you and your respective chapters. I can be contacted via email: Jason_thomashefsky@msn.com
contact me at anytime regarding my future plans for the NJCMENC and my biography.
Thank you, Jason Thomashefsky
